Emantras has
researched, developed and tested ground breaking new
technology to manage, search, index, author, publish
and maintain digital content. The Digital Content
Engine (DCE, the next generation digital book
platform) powered by OFX technology brings about a paradigm
shift in the approach to digital content by automating
most processes involved in bringing digital books to
individual and institutional users. The DCE platform
does not require heavy investment in database and middleware
maintenance resulting in valuable cost savings, aggressive
implementation times, and manageable infrastructure
costs (by eliminating storage costs, maintenance costs,
and infrastructure costs).
This “lean”
approach to integration leads to cost-effective and
scalable data integration in the enterprise. The basic
framework of the DCE architecture is defined below with
an application specific emphasis.

Solution
Layout
The Content Platform –
the content platform is based
on our proprietary “Digital Content Engine”
which is built on powerful OFX database software. This
engine is a combination of “Content Migration”
(conversion from legacy formats PDF, Word, HTML to DocBook
XML), “Content Repurposing” (making it ready
for extraction and use across multiple applications),
and finally “Content Publishing” (making
the content appropriate to port to the user layers).
The
Management Modules, the management modules (e-Commerce,
analytics, etc.) are all modular components which will
be integrated into a secular solution hosted by Emantras
and will be very similar in approach to an ASP product.
The product will be designed to scale and allows clients
the luxury of scaling based on user adoption. The management
modules will be developed on vendor neutral platform
and are open for integration into several legacy systems.
